2021 Region II Championship Results

The Ladynecks and Roughnecks competed at the Region II Championships on Tuesday, October 26th. Both races saw 179 runners complete the course with the top four teams in each division, and top ten individuals not part of a team advancing to the State meet in Round Rock on November 5th. White Oak has two individuals advancing to the State meet. Lizzy Still ran a personal best 12:01 to finish in the seventh place spot, and Nathan Green finished the 5k course in 17:55 for 14th place. This will be Still’s first trip to Round Rock, and Green’s second trip. In the girls race Still was accompanied by teammates freshman Abby Lobue and four-time Regional qualifier senior Morgan Benge. Lobue finished the course in 13:48, for 67th place and Benge in 13:51 for 72nd place. In the boys race seniors Alberto Soto and Adrian Pinson both three-time qualifiers also raced the 5k course. Pinson finished in 55th place, 19:24, and Soto in 69th, 19:33 to capped off their careers. All of the runners raced well in a large competitive field on a relatively flat, fast course. I would like to thank seniors Morgan Benge, Adrian Pinson, Alberto Soto, Nathan Green, and Abby Quesenberry for their dedication to the Cross Country for the nearly six years (Abby and Adrian got to us a little bit later) they have been runners in this program. They have put in many many hours and miles running throughout White Oak being chased by a gray CRV. They are an extremely dedicated group, training throughout the early summer mornings, meeting at 6:30 for Sunday morning long runs; and juggling school and work obligations. They have been great examples of what it means to be a White Oak Cross Country runner, and take that responsibility seriously by representing White Oak well on and off the course. Thank you for your dedication to the program, passion for the sport, and laughter. It has been an honor to be your Coach.
