The Ladyneck Cross Country team will travel to Round Rock on November 12th to represent White Oak at the State XC meet. The team placed second at the Region II Championships in Grand Prairie on Saturday. This is the second time in school history a team as advanced to the State meet held at Old Settler’s Park each year. The last qualifying team was in 2009. Shaynee Tyl led the Ladynecks with a 14th place finish in a race that saw 174 runners. The Ladynecks ran very well as a team using both speed and position racing in order to place as a team. In the boys race that saw 180 runners runners, Dylan Harris finished in 40th place in a time of 19:05, Logan Sells in 61st in 19:45, and Zach Herring in 70th with a time of 19:58.The boys also had a very good season. We appreciate all their hard work and dedication.

The White Oak Cross Country teams won five of the six individual titles at Elysian Fields on Saturday along with a District Championship in the Varsity girls division. Olivia Sipes kicked off the morning winning the girls’ individual title with a course record of 12:49. She was followed closely by teammates Shaynee Tyl, 2nd place, 12:54, and Cece Hernandez 3rd, 13:08. Katie Williamson, 5th, and Luisa Soto 7th rounded out the team scoring for the Ladynecks. Sipes’ performance was followed by a first place finish in the JV girls division by Riley Edmondson. Dylan Harris would secure the boys individual team title in 16:38. Zach Herring, 3rd, 18:12, and Logan Sells 8th, 19:26, would also collect some prized hardware and earn a trip to the Regional meet in Garland. Morgan Benge led the JH girls division with a time of 14:04 and Stephen Thomas led the JH boys division in 12:44. This race will wrap up the JH season, but the Varsity runners have earned the right to continue on to the Regional II meet held on October 29th at Lynn Creek in Grand Praire.

The District meet will be held at Elysian Fields HS on Saturday, October 15. We will meet at the shed at 6:00 and leave at 6:15. This will be the last race of the season for the Junior High runners. After their races, they may ride home with their parents. All Junior High runners should make sure and wear sweats to the race on Saturday, the weather is normally cooler this time of year. They do not need extra layers under they uniform. They will also turn in their uniform after they run, so they need sweats to wear.

Awards following last race

The White Oak Cross Country runners traveled to Lindale for their annual meet held at Garden Valley Golf Course. Dylan Harris placed in 4th (18:08) in the varsity boys race beating out not only 171 other runners but also Big Foot himself (see video). Shaynee Tyl led the Ladynecks with a 19th place finish in 13:24 in a race that saw 174 competitors. The Ladynecks finished 5th as team in a field of 24. The Cross Country teams will compete at Elysian Fields next Saturday, October 15th in the District 16-3A Meet.

THERE WILL BE NO JH PRACTICE ON WEDNESDAY 10/5

The Varsity teams will travel to Lynn Creek in Arlington on Friday to compete in the Pre-Regional Meet hosted by UT-Arlington. This will be the same course at the Region II Championships held on October 29th. The races start at 4:00 with the Varsity Girls. The races will be on a rolling start with an anticipated start for the boys race of 5:30 but it could be earlier. There is not a spectator fee but it does cost $10 per car to park. We will leave school around noon to travel to the meet. The address for Lynn Creek Park (at Joe Pool Lake) is 5610 Lake Ridge Parkway, Grand Prairie, Texas, 75052.

The Roughneck and Ladyneck runners enjoyed cooler temperatures this morning as they competed at The Buckeye Invitational in Gilmer. This was a fairly flat and fast course over primarily grassy terrain. The JH runners kicked off the morning with races led by Jackson Frazier, 34th and Morgan Benge, 18th. In Varsity Boys race Dylan Harris placed 2nd, 16:27, in a field of 166 runners, Zach Herring was 34th and Logan Sells was 67th. Herring and Sells both lowered their times for the season. Shaynee Tyl led the ladies with a 3rd place finish in 13:01 in a race that saw 142 competitors. The girls placed 3rd as time with a team score of 105 points. In the JV Girls race Riley Edmondson collected some hardware placing 19th out of 76 runners. Next week the Junior High will not race, and the Varsity teams will travel to Garland to compete in the Pre-Regionals meet hosted by UT-Arlington.
