GILMER MEETINFO

The meet on September 19th will be held at the Gilmer Elementary School Campus.
We will meet at the shed (metal building in front of the bus barn). We will meet at 6:00AM and leave at 6:15AM. All JH runners need to wear their uniform to the meet. They should wear a WO t-shirt over their uniform top and bring a bag with a towel and snacks for the morning. It is important, they eat something when they get up in the morning. If they don’t feel like eating, send something with them and I will make sure they eat before their race. JH runners should also bring a couple bottles of water and a sports drink (Gatorade, Powerade, Body Armour are good choices). I will have a cooler for their drinks. JH runners may leave with their family after they race, I will have a sign out sheet, however they must ride with family.

Race location: Gilmer Elementary 1625 US 271 North. The school is located just past the Walmart on 271 on the left hand side.
**Parents and fans are welcome to attend the meet,however the meet officials are requesting attendees practice social distancing as much as possible and wear a mask when necessary.

Hallsville Meet Results 9/11/20

The Ladyneck and Roughneck Cross Country runners kicked off the 2020 season at the Hallsville Invitational on Friday, September 11th. Morgan Benge, 15:03, and John Langley, 19:57, brought home hardware to start the season with third places finishes in their races. The girls race saw 114 runners for the day. Benge finished 14th overall, and Abby Quesenberry finished 71st with a time of 19:28. In the boys races 260 runners competed. Langley was 101st overall, Alberto Soto, 114th, in 20:12, Adrian Pinson, 201st, 22:35, and Logan Dugger finished 215th in 23:32. The teams will compete in Gilmer on Saturday, September 19th beginning at 8:00 with the Junior High girls race.

Pine Tree Meet Results

The 8th Annual Pine Tree Pig Trot and Puddle Jump did not disappoint. This weekend the runners tackled a challenging true-to-form cross country course. The terrain was rugged with two distinctly challenging hills, one at the beginning of the course and one right before the homestretch to the finish. The runners approached the course with grit and determination, which resulted in excellent times for this course. Dylan Harris won the 4A-1A 5k division in a time of 17:26. The girls finished fourth as a team in a field of 16 teams. Cryslan Tucker finished second in 12:42, Shaynee Tyl 11th in 13:42, followed by CeCe Hernandez in 24th place in a time of 14:33. Katie Williamson, 36th, and Luisa Soto, 63rd, rounded out the team scoring this week in a field of 125 runners running 15:10 and 16:30 respectively. This week the Junior High Runners returned to action. Morgan Benge collected some hardware finishing 6th, 15:04, in girls race of 196 runners. Benge ran a very good tactical race moving from 9th to 6th place mid-way through the last hill and holding off a late surge at the end. In the boys race, Aidan Kennar led the roughnecks in 34th place in a time of 13:52. Kennar was followed by teammates Nathan Green in 62nd, 15:02, and Alberto Soto, 97th place in 16:01. Tristan Blair, 155th, 18:16 and Devin Dies, 180th, 20:41 rounded out the team scoring in a race that saw 196 competitors. The teams will travel to Gilmer this weekend for their final tune-up before district on October 7th at Elysian Fields

Pine Tree Meet

This week we will return to action at the Pine Tree Pig Trot and Puddle Jump at Katy’s Ranch (see map below). The JH will return to action at this notoriously tough course. It is a true trail course spanning different terrains and natural obstacles, like ponds and hills. We will meet at 6:30 and leave at 6:45 Saturday morning. This meet uses a “rolling start” format. This means as one race finishes the next race starts. The times below are only estimated, so arrive early so you don’t miss the race.

Hallsville Invitational Results

The White Oak Cross Country teams tackled the course at Lear Park on Friday, September 15th. In the boys Open 5k division Dylan Harris finished 11th in a time of 17:16 in a field that saw 138 runners compete. The girls team finished fourth among 25 teams in the 1A-4A Varsity division. Cryslan Tucker led the Ladynecks this week with a 4th place finish in 12:21. Shaynee Tyl and Olivia Sipes also collected some hardware this week, placing 9th and 12th respectively. CeCe Hernandez raced to 25th place followed by Katie Williamson, 34th, and Luisa Soto 96th in a race of 195 competitors. Tova Mellby collected hardware for the second week in a row with a sixth place finish in the JV girls race. The runners will be back in action on Saturday, September 23 at the Pine Tree Pig Trot and Puddle Jump held at Katy’s Race. This is traditional Cross Country trail course with lots of trail running, hills, and wooded areas.

UT Tyler Meet Results

The Cross Country runners enjoyed a cool running morning last Saturday at the campus of UT Tyler. The race hosted by Tyler Lee is traditional big and fast; hosting many schools from around East Texas and DFW area. This year did not disappoint. The Ladynecks placed fourth among the 1A-4A teams losing to Eustace by 1 point. Cryslan Tucker raced to a third place finish in 11:56. Shaynee Tyl, 12:20, 12th and Olivia Sipes, 12:33, 17th rounded out top twenty finishes. They were followed by teammates Katie Williamson in 44th,13:20, CeCe Hernandez in 46th, 13:21 and Luisa Soto, 155th in 15:58. This was a big meet with over 200 runners in the girls race. Tova Mellby made her American running debut in the JV girls’ race finishing in 5th place in a time of 13:41. She also earned her first race medal. Dylan Harris finished 8th in a time of 16:38 while competing in the boys Open Division. The Roughnecks and Ladynecks will be back in action on Friday for the Hallsville Invitational at Lear Park in Longview.

SFA Meet Results

The Roughnecks and Ladynecks were back in action this weekend competing in the SFA Invitational at Pecan Acres Park. Cryslan Tucker led the Ladynecks with a 2nd place finish in 13:12, followed by Olivia Sipes in 8th, 13:50. Top ten finishes this week earned runners a take home medal. Shaynee Tyl finished 11th in 14:03, CeCe Hernandez in 17th, 14:36, Katie Williamson in 31st 15:17, and Luisa Soto 110th in 19:14. The girls race saw 129 runners slop through the muddy course. The ladies finished 3rd as a team behind Fairfield and Lufkin Hudson. Dylan Harris placed 26th, 18:55, in the boys open division 161 runners complete the course. Morgan Benge and Aidan Kennar were the top Junior High finishers this week. Benge finished 7th in the girls race in 16:14 and Kennar finished 8th in the boys race in 13:42. Alberto Soto raced to 42nd place in 16:25, Nathan Green 54th in 17:17, Devin Dies 91st in 21:20, and Tristan Blair 94th in 21:44. The girls race saw 81 runners and the boys race saw 99 runners complete the race.

The JH runners are idle this weekend, while the High School times will travel to the Tyler Lee Invitational at UT Tyler on Saturday, September 9th. The races will kick off at 8:00 and roll out from there.

SFA Meet Information

We will meet at the Shed (metal building by the bus barn) on Saturday morning at 5:30am. We will leave at 5:45. JH runners need to bring water, a sports drink and snacks. I will have a cooler for their drinks. Please put their name on their bottles for identification. It is important they eat breakfast, even if they don’t feel like when they get up. If they do not eat breakfast before we leave for the meet, send something with them anyway. I will check on them during the morning and make sure they eat before their race. Sometimes with race nerves and getting up earlier than normal they are not hungry right away, but they will be.

Spectators will be able to park on Wilson Drive, which is across the street. Those spectators will
have to use caution crossing the road into the park due to heavy traffic.

JH runners can go home with their parents if they would like. Please bring note either Wednesday or Saturday morning.

JH Meeting

There will be a Cross Country meeting for boys and girls in the 7th and 8th grade interested in running this year. We will meet at 7:00 AM, Tuesday, August in the Old Middle School gym. After the meeting 7th grade athletes will go to practice and everyone else will go to the cafeteria. Your student will come home with information regarding practice, meet schedule, and nutrition.

State 2016 Meet Results

The Ladyneck Cross Country team capped off their season with a 9th place team finish, Saturday at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock. The Ladynecks were led by Cryslan Tucker’s 14th place finish in 12:06. Shaynee Tyl followed in 12:52 for 68th. In a race that saw 149 runners and a fast pace, the top 78 runners ran under 13 minutes, the Ladynecks competed well and were allowed the opportunity to compete at the highest level for our school and program. Shaynee Tyl was named to the Cross Country All-Region team for her 11th place finish at the Regional Meet and Cryslan Tucker will be named to the All-Sate team.
