The Buckeye Invitational was a hot spot for medal collecting this past weekend for the Ladyneck and Roughneck Cross Country teams. The Varsity girls collected a third place team finish with four out of five runners placing in the top 20 and their fifth runner just missing taking home a medal. In the girls race the Ladynecks took seventh through ninth places with Olivia Sipes, 13:30, Morgan Benge,13:37, and CeCe Hernandez, 14:00, finishing in the top ten. Baylee Lyke placed 18th in a time of 14:38. Lyke was followed by Abby Quesenberry in 23rd in a time of 14:48. In the boys Varsity race Nathan Green led the Roughnecks with a 34th place finish in 18:54. John Langley, 19:03, and Dyan Miller, 19:23, placed 37th and 46th. Alberto Soto finished in 24:26. The JH girls also saw two runners collect medals. Alyssa Jones, 15:15, for 10th place and Addie Young in 14th, 15:49. Addison Clinkscales placed 38th, 17:08, Raylee Gajewsky 49th, 17:49, and Kinsey Watkins 95th, 21:23, rounded out the team scoring for the girls. The Junior High girls placed 7th as a team. Aidan Kennar led the Junior High team this week in a time of 13:48 for 19th place. Kennar was followed by Tristan Blair in 27th, 14:10, Jake Yarbrough 47th, 14:51 and Kohl Adams 87th, 16:32. The Junior High boys finished in 11th place as a team. Kanaan Moore, 117th, and Blaine Vaughn, 119th, finished in 19:24 and 19:41 respectively. All of the boys and girls showed improvement with their times this week. The High School teams will have their last tune up before district this week at the Gladewater Invitational on Saturday, October 6th. The races start at 8:00.
