“There is no such thing as bad weather just soft people”

Bill Bowerman (Legendary Oregon Coach and Co-Founder of Nike)

This quote hangs on the wall in our home away from home known as “The Shed”. And this quote could not have been more evident after today’s performances in wet, soggy, muddy Huntsville. The Ladynecks and Roughnecks turned out some great individual and collective team performances today to cap off another outstanding season. We will be sending four individuals on to Round Rock to represent White Oak at the State Meet held at Old Settler’s Park on November 7th. Seniors Clay McNeese and Garrett Stephenson turned out great performance running in their third Regional Championships. Clay will move on to Round Rock as a state qualifier. Garrett capped off his career with a top 40 finish. Dylan Harris also raced to a first time State appearance, qualifying in 5th place. Earlier in the morning, Shaynee Tyl and Olivia Sipes raced to 8th and 9th places to secure a qualifying spot for the State meet. Good weather, bad weather, solid ground or shifting sand; the Ladynecks and Roughnecks have taken all it in stride, learned to race along the way, and learned a little something about themselves too.
